Ingredients

1 lb (450g) flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain

3 cups broccoli florets (fresh or frozen)

2 tablespoons vegetable oil (divided)

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated

1 bell pepper (red or yellow), thinly sliced

3 green onions, chopped (for garnish)

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon oyster sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

1 cup beef broth

1 teaspoon sesame oil

Salt and black pepper to taste

2 cups cooked rice (for serving)

Instructions

Prepare the Beef: In a bowl, toss the sliced flank steak with cornstarch, a teaspoon of soy sauce, and a pinch of salt and black pepper. Let it marinate for about 10 minutes while you prepare the rest of the ingredients.

Cook the Broccoli: In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the broccoli florets and stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until they are bright green and slightly tender. Remove from the pan and set aside.

Stir-Fry the Beef: In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of oil. Add the marinated beef in a single layer. Let it sear for 1-2 minutes before stirring to ensure a nice caramelization. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger, stirring constantly for another minute until fragrant.

Combine Ingredients: Add the sliced bell pepper and cooked broccoli back into the pan with the beef. Stir well to combine.

Make the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the beef broth, the remaining soy sauce, and oyster sauce. Pour this mixture over the beef and vegetables in the pan.

Thicken the Sauce: Allow it to simmer for about 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly. Adjust the seasoning with sesame oil, salt, and black pepper to taste.

Garnish & Serve: Remove from heat, garnish with chopped green onions, and serve the stir-fry over a bed of cooked rice.
