The magic of air frying lies in its ability to replicate the crispy exterior of fried foods while significantly reducing the amount of oil used in the process. An air fryer works by circulating hot air around the food, creating a convection effect that cooks the food evenly and crisps up the surface. This method not only cuts down on the fat content of your meals but also retains the natural flavors and nutrients of the ingredients.

Ingredients

1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed

1 cup all-purpose flour

2 large eggs, beaten

1 cup panko breadcrumbs

½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

½ teaspoon salt

¼ teaspoon black pepper

Cooking spray or olive oil spray

Optional: Marinara sauce for dipping

Instructions

Prepare the Green Beans: Start by washing and trimming the green beans. Pat them dry with a paper towel to ensure they crisp up nicely in the air fryer.

Set Up Breading Station: In three separate shallow bowls, place the flour in the first bowl, the beaten eggs in the second, and together mix the panko breadcrumbs, the grated Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper in the third bowl.

Coat the Green Beans: Dip each green bean first in the flour (shake off excess), then in the beaten eggs, and finally coat them evenly with the panko mixture. Press down gently to make sure the coating adheres well.

Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 3-5 minutes.

Spray for Crispiness: Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray to prevent sticking. Arrange the coated green beans in a single layer in the basket, making sure they aren’t overcrowded.

Air Fry: Cook the green bean fries in the air fryer at 400°F (200°C) for 8-10 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to ensure even cooking. They should be golden brown and crispy when done.

Finish and Serve: Once the green bean fries are cooked to perfection, carefully remove them from the air fryer and allow them to cool slightly. Serve them warm with marinara sauce or your favorite dipping sauce.
