Ingredients

6 large buttery croissants, cut into quarters

1 ½ cups diced cooked ham

1 ½ cups shredded Swiss cheese

6 large eggs

1 ½ cups whole milk

¼ cup heavy cream

1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

½ teaspoon garlic powder

¼ teaspoon black pepper

¼ teaspoon salt

2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives (optional, for garnish)

1 tablespoon butter (for greasing the baking dish)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Prepare the Baking Dish: Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with butter to prevent sticking.

Assemble the Base: In the prepared baking dish, layer half of the croissant quarters evenly across the bottom.

Add Fillings: Sprinkle half of the diced ham and half of the shredded Swiss cheese over the croissants. Repeat with the remaining croissant quarters, ham, and Swiss cheese to create layers.

Whisk the Eggs: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, heavy cream, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, black pepper, and salt until well combined.

Pour the Egg Mixture: Carefully pour the egg mixture evenly over the layered croissants, ham, and cheese, ensuring all the croissants are soaked thoroughly.

Press Gently: With a spatula, gently press down the croissants to help them absorb the egg mixture.

Let It Rest: Allow the dish to rest for about 15-20 minutes, giving it time for the croissants to soak in the egg mixture.

Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes or until the top is golden and the center is set.

Cool & Garnish: Once baked, remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Garnish with chopped fresh chives, if desired.

Serve: Cut into squares and serve warm as a delightful breakfast or brunch option. Enjoy this comforting dish with a side of fresh fruit or salad!
