Preheating your oven is a crucial step in baking that should never be overlooked. The importance of achieving the right temperature cannot be understated, as it directly influences the texture and overall outcome of your baked goods. For Baked Strawberry Vanilla Oats, set your oven to 350°F (175°C). This temperature ensures that the oats cook evenly, allowing the strawberries to soften and the vanilla flavor to infuse throughout the dish. A properly preheated oven helps create a beautifully golden top and ensures the oats set correctly, yielding a delightful breakfast treat.

Ingredients

2 cups rolled oats

2 cups milk (dairy or plant-based)

1 cup diced fresh strawberries (plus extra for topping)

1/4 cup maple syrup or honey

1/4 cup Greek yogurt (or any plant-based yogurt)

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 cup chopped nuts (almonds or walnuts, optional)

Fresh mint leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Prepare the Baking Dish: Grease an 8x8 inch (or similar size) baking dish with a little butter or non-stick spray.

Combine Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the rolled oats, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. Mix well to ensure everything is evenly distributed.

Mix Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together the milk, maple syrup (or honey), Greek yogurt, and vanilla extract until smooth.

Combine Mixtures: Pour the wet mixture into the bowl with the dry ingredients. Add the diced strawberries and gently fold everything together until well combined. If using, add the chopped nuts at this stage.

Pour into Baking Dish: Transfer the oat mixture into your prepared baking dish, spreading it out evenly. Sprinkle a few extra strawberry pieces on top for presentation.

Bake: Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for about 30-35 minutes, or until the oats are set and the top is golden brown.

Cool and Serve: Remove from the oven and allow to cool for a few minutes. Cut into squares and serve warm, garnished with fresh mint leaves if desired.
